From the "smart" speakers in our living rooms to the realistic-looking photos on social media, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer just a science fiction concept--it is a part of our daily lives. Join media literacy advocate and St. Petersburg College professor Shelbey Rosengarten for an open, jargon-free conversation about the current state of AI. Rather than a technical lecture, this session is a structured discussion to explore how AI is shaping our world.
We'll talk about what your family and friends are experiencing online, the potential for AI to displace or change jobs, and the effects we're seeing in education. Bring your questions and curiosity for this guided discussion.
Shelbey Rosengarten has been a professor with the Communications department at St. Petersburg College for the last 15 years. She teaches writing and literature courses, often focusing on media literacy and experimenting with various uses of instructional technology. During the Fall 2025 term she completed a Fulbright teaching project in Nitra, Slovakia.
